Tuttle Creek
#2
hey! well, had a good time... but on the way out we decided to bypass Tuttle and go over to Milford.. ends up taking about the same amount of time to get there.. of course realizing that 80% of the traffic on I-70 was from people heading to the K-State game helped finalize that decision, since the way to Tuttle follows the same road for all those going to the game.. lol.. Milford was a lot of fun. Like anywhere, go easy and look before you go flying along.. theres some nasty old trails that have washed out and aren't functional anymore.. although they usually have a newer good trail somewhere nearby.. but here is some comparison..
Both have there share of rocky terrain, although still have plenty of dirt sections.
Tuttle Creek:
310 acres
Trails are more open b/c of being sized for jeeps/trucks as well.
More ridable shoreline.
Several big hills and ridgelines as it is on the edge of the flint hills.
Milford:
287 acres
More woods riding and tighter trails.
Both open higher speed sections and tighter technical sections.
Can get to all areas through easier trails if desired since there are various skill level trails heading the same general direction.
Various terrain to ride on.
Most of shoreline is very rocky, only about half the shore is ridable if that.
The rest of the area is less rocky overall than Tuttle however.
Which would I prefer?
Well, thats tougher to answer. I enjoyed my time at both of them. Definately try them both eventually. I can say this, though it wont help you decide. We talked about next time leaving early in the morning so we can go to milford first part of the day, then head to Tuttle for the 2nd part before making the trip back home. Both are good. Both are about the same size.
As for where we may go next... still trying to decide.. our last 5 outings have been to 5 different places (not counting just riding around home). Perry, Deepwater, Redmond, Tuttle Creek, and Milford. So, unless we find some other place within a days trip distance its either a repeat or a weekend trip. lol.
Do you have a preference for any place you would like to try out? Which have you been able to go to so far? Let me know when and where and I'll see if I can. Saturdays are still best for me. Talk more with you later!
