I might be moving to the Madison/Huntsville area and was checking for places to ride or race.

ts; I don't race, but there is a race track next
to the "Moontown" airport on US Highway 72 about
5 miles east of Huntsville. There was some flak from the local residents who objected to the noise and dust of the dirt bikes, but I don't know if the track was closed or some compromise reached.
For trail riding, there is a nice area near behind the Colonial Hills school, where Gordon Banks has carved out a lot of nice, challenging trails. There's also "Coal Mine", an area mostly in Jackson County, but partially in Madison County, where there is a huge area to ride in. Right now, deer season precludes riding in there, but that ends Jan 30. The area is about 20 miles
wide and 30 miles long, with some trails good for playing with 2wd, and many rocky inclines that are only good for 4wd. Use should use a GPS or ride with someone familiar with the area, as one could easily get lost in there. Some mudholes never dry up and have hidden traps to require someone to pull you through (even with 4wd on occasion). Huntsville is a good area to ride ATV's. Just wish the deer season wasn't such an interruption.
