Glamis and paddles?

Here is the deal. My friends and I are thinking about a last minute Glamis trip because neither of us has ever been there. We have not yet purchased paddles for our quads (Two Predator 500's and two 400ex's). Will we be miserable in Glamis without paddles, or will we still be able to have fun. I have ridden Pismo with my knobbies and it was okay. Yeah, paddles would have helped me hook up better and climb some of the hills without spinning a bit. But then again, I have heard that the sand at Glamis is softer and deeper than the sand at Pismo...
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Glamis sand is different. It is sifted very fine, so you don't hook up as well as some other places.....so paddles are a huge help!
I say for a first trip you will be ok, but you will do best to avoid some of the really huge stuff. Just don't get yourself trapped in a big bowl where you don't have the traction to work your way out! The more horsepower the better. The 500's will do better off than the 400.

Any feedback on Sand Gear Paddles? I found a local guy selling a set of barely used with .190 wheels for $120. Cheapest I can find these or Sand Stars new is around $200 after tax or shipping without tax (from Oregon).

Don't waste your money on Sand Gear paddles. I had a set and hated them so much I gave away the tires and bought Haulers. The Sand Gears don't hook up and they allow the back end to fishtail way to much. I was so unhappy with them that I gave them away because I felt guilty about taking money for them. Haulers cost alot more but they are 100 times better.
