Western Mass. State Forests
#1
Out of the 4 (Beartown,Pittsfield,October,Tolland) legal forests in western mass. does anyone have any input regarding trail conditions/ difficulty? I ride a 2wd sport machine and the girlfriend is on a 2wd/4wd sport/utility but she has never ridden before. Apparently the trails opened as of today, so was looking to check out some legal ridin. Looking for the least rocky, small mud hole area(s) to break in the beginner. I have ridden Pittsfield a few years back and it was pretty good, a few big rocky areas and a couple long mud holes but nothing to bad. Any input on the others? Thanks

October is the rockiest, beartown the smallest, tolland is great but most of the good trails are out of the state park on the pipeline, which is not really
legal. So Pittsfield is your best bet, heard the redid a bunch of trails last year.

Hi Steveio , looking for a great place to ride thats not too difficult,Check out The Sugar River Trail in Newport N.H.
I'ts an old Railroad bed that they had turned into a Beautiful Trail.
Runs about 18 mIles , From Newport to Claremont N.H., And runs along the river for most of the trail,Also nice covered bridges to ride thru.
Stop and go fishing or take a swim,I'ts an awesome place to ride.
Perfect for a Day Trip.
Parking lot is located at the Newport Recreational Parking Area. Don't forget to get Registered ,N.H ORV Offers a list of all the places to get Registered.I think theres A Couple of places in Newport and in Claremont. All ya need is the Vin # and Engine # and sIze of machine and of course I.D.
For more info 'Check out N.H.ORV or Trailsource.
