Yeah, cutting a few donuts on the Great Lawn in Central Park sounds like fun.
Hey, I ran my CBR900RR down Park Ave at 2am once.....I set off a few car alarms in the process. Even if you the time lights (take off under yellow), it does not take long for you catch up on the red lights. All joking aside, I live in Westchester and I've been riding sportbikes for close to 20 years and I can count the times on one hand that I've gone south of the Bronx.
Back in the day, I can remember guys riding (MX bikes) out by the Whitestone Bridge....on the Bronx side. What's funny is that it still looks like it would be a cool place to ride....but you'd be behind bars inside of one hour.
As for places to ride, Westchester is pretty much out. I have 8 acres of private land out my back door that I ride.....but I really can't go nuts back there and it gets boring fast.
I'm also interesting in finding a large legal places to ride in the Tri-State area (say within a 1-2 hour drive)

Is that $50.00 or $5,000.00?
Slim pickings for the metro area. PA is your best bet unless you hook up with some locals that invite you to their 'tolerated' areas and that's happening less and less because people who get invited once start to abuse the privelege. I read somewhere that NJ might be getting an old strip mine for a legal riding area. That'd be great!

Why would you buy a four wheeler if you live in NYC? Buying a four wheeler implies you like being outdoors and doing outdoors activities like four wheeling. besides, there are so many other things to do in the city. If you're not happy there move upstate.

I don't think it's quite that simple. Friends, family and employment nearby can make it difficult to move. I garee tho - NYC is not the place to own an ATV.
ps - Is that a 500 or 800 'Gade? I've been looking at the 500 but they're BIG bucks! Was yours worth the $$? Would you buy another one? Do you race it or just trail ride? Where in NY are you? (south, north, western)

Hi, it's an 800, in fact it was the first 07 my dealership had in. Is it worth the money, that's hard to answer, I guess you have to ask yourself how important is having what is still really the most powerful stock four wheeler there is right now, and still having 4wd available to go where the fast 2wd sport machines can't. If you crave an exhilarating motor that will go everywhere, that still handles pretty well considering it's weight, then it's worth the money. I'm thinking about selling mine so I can get an x or just a new 08 with separate front brakes. I've only got 70 hours on it, about 700 miles now. I live about two hours northwest of NYC, not far from the PA, NJ border. How about you? Yesterday I went riding with a large numbe of people and let my friends 17 year old daughter ride it who is use to riding sport machines and she loved mine. All the power and fun or a sport machine and then some, and no shifting !! Think she wants one now. Definitely not a boring machine to ride. Oh and I just go riding with friends and small groups, usually more comfortable with people who ride a little more agressively though. The 500 sounds like a good choice, your name implies you're a girl so you may not have the urge to have the biggest, most powerful engine, it's a guy thing. I'm sure you could probably get a dealer down to 7100 for a new one. Then again I might know where you could get a used 800 for about the same price. Seriously the 500 seems like an excellent machine for the average person looking to have fun.

Not too many Can Am dealers by me. Best I could do was $7600.00 OTD. Too much $$ for me!. The 800 is way big for me tho. Thanks for the feedback.

The 800 and 500 are physically the same size, but the 800 has about 20 more horsepower. The 500 is probably powerful enough for the average person unless of course as I said you crave having the most powerful atv you can get.
