Yup. Kind of hone you need depends on the project at hand. Easiest is a bead hone which takes the difficulties of adjusting a stone hone properly. Using the right kind of oil is important as are drill and stroke speed and proper size of hone.
For what it costs it's cheaper to have it done than buying all the stuff unless you're going to be doing it a lot.
Don't hone a chrome plated bore.

Sounds like it would be cheaper to have it done. Does anyone know who does this kind of work?
I decided to go to school to fix my own stuff. I have already offset the cost of school and i finished school in February. The only thing that starts costing is the tools.... It does make you appreciate how quick things in a real shop gets done. I still will have the cost of machine work and aluminum welding and such till you can afford that stuff.
Gonna go big bore?
