i guess thats the reason why someone would buy a sporty . they love the power and acceleration . just like there are reasons why a person would buy a utility quad instead of a sporty.... a hummer or a porche or a corolla . as long as people ride responsibly.
on the flip side, my experience with alot of utility riders has been , they like to drink, like to ride down the middle of the trail, especially coming up to a blind corner, like to park their group and chat in the middle of the trail/ or around a blind corner, like to control my speed by trying to not let me pass until the next intersection which could be 20min up the trail.
i am always on the right side of the trail no matter what my speed and aproach corners with caution. a head on collision is the worst possiable senario . i just dont understand why riders think they are the only ones on the trail and come up to corners in the middle or worse yet, on the wrong side. anyway like butcher said , we ride with different types and are just out to have a good time. but we did buy a fast engine for a reason

BS brings up alot of vaild points in his post, I also have run into ALOT of uti guys (most for that matter) (I ride alot in the summer I bet that 90% of the UTI guys I see stoped on the side of the trail w/ a big group have a BEER IN HAND) & on the wrong side of the trail or in the middle of it & not wanting you to pass (wtf you think I want to spend the day behind your drunk ***???) not just a group of people riding, clubs & such w/kids, Some of these people think thay own the trails B/C thay belong to a club, Wrong J/A, But thay think no matter what if thay are going @ walkin speed you should buy no means pass B/C thay own the trail???? Dont get me wrong I have a few cocktials now & then but when I ride their is NO drinkin @ all on the quad or when riding...BS & the group of guys we ride w/ are all not angles bi no means & we F up now & then on the sportys, But not like we are drag racin down main street, Sorry I guess I'm just sic of the 4x4/2x4 being to different rides in some peoples eyes, we all ride & should promote both sports & not hav any BS between us....

Sorry for the rant HB, I buy no means ment that all are like that, but ride clark, or BRF (I know you have) on a buzy weekend & I bet you see several groups pulled over drinking & standing in the middle of the trail.... not all just on 4x4s but sportys as well, mnrap had a guy hit him head on a few years back not sure if he was drinking, But he (the other guy) was on the wrong side of the trail & last year, I had a drinker on a uti almost plow right into the side of me & I was standing still...

hey hondabuster. sorry but it happens every single ride where we go. unfortuantly its one of the best trails around . now i know your/my group all have utilities as well as sports and u guys are not like that at all . we have a good time together. if i were to guess a percent i would say 20-30 % of them act that way where we ride. thats alot ! you'll see when we go there. and like i said, those behaviors happen every single ride we go on there !! ( i've never had that stuff happen in danbury) that 30 % reminds me of a bunch of drunk, rednecks at the bar wanting to fight everyone. they bring that to the trail. i bet if that 30% was not drinking they would not act like that. its the toughman syndrome. their wifes' probably wear the pants at home so this is their only place to release... i was not on this certain ride but, we actually had a guy step out from his group and stand in the middle of the trail and not let the "smaller/less intimidating " group by until they came to a stop. and his group was parked on the trail instead of off to the side . drinking ,of course . now if it had been a group of utility riders comming down the trail at 10mph( the sport group was riding cautiously as they approached the group) would the guy have did that ? i dont know but, i'm guessing not .( its this " pro racer " mentallity that some utilities have towards the sports/ i bought a sport to ride fast, period ! i get off on speed.( just like andy on his 450r) if i wanted a leisurely , scenic ride ( which i like sometimes) through the forest and play in the mud holes i would have bought a utility) but again, i bring the speed when no one is around...
i actually had a guy last year see us ( he was the last one in his group) and he proceed to zig zag back and forth to prevent us from passing) the rest of his group moved to the right to let us by. things like that just get me fired up as i think about the comming riding season. but i'm not gonna tolerate it this year, its unacceptable.. if someone wants to drive fast in the left lane down the highway, its not my place to tell them how to drive. i move to the right...
on that note, whens are next outing ?
