LA Dunes or Camp Claiborne
#1
Greetings,
Does anyone have any information on these 2 riding areas? Specifically, are they still open to ATVs? I live in the Houston area and have heard from friends that these are great places to ride. Especially Camp Claiborne with over 100+ miles of trails. Any info would be greatly appreciated (including phone# or http of campsite, personal experiences there, best trails etc.) I would like to take a 4-day weekend around Spring Break and plan a proper ATV trip. From what I have heard, this place sounds perfect. Also, do out of state ATVs need to be registered with the state of Louisiana before we can ride? I know in Texas we have to register our ATVs if we want to ride at a state park.
Thanks in advance,
MrMan

Yes both of these places are still open. You must pay to ride at LA Dunes. You can actually ride from Camp Claiborne to the Dunes. If you are coming to ride ATV's I would recomend that you go to Red Dirt. It is a much better place to ride ATV's. If you want more info on Red Dirt email me.

Hey outlaw, where is Red Dirt located?? I'm familiar with La Dunes and Camp Claiborne(Forest Hills) as we call it. I'm located down here in South Louisiana, and would be intersted to know and make a ride there. By the way, if MX is your bag, we have a few nice tracks down here.

red dirt is about 25 miles south of natchitoches, la. off hwy 117 it is located in the kisatchie national forest and consists of a 30 mile loop. there are many other trails that cut across the main trail system. there are small hills, trails, creeks and plenty of mud after a good rain. red dirt is one of my #1 favorite places to ride due to the variety of terrain.
