Ayuh! We're from Maine too! Live in Auburn, ride alot in Turner, Buxton, Streaked Mtn. and some local trails and pits, and have some land up north where we can ride too.
Just bought the wife a 99' Sportsman 500. Much nicer than my 98' Honda 450S.

Well it seems that there are more than just a couple of ATV's in Maine. I have so far only had family to ride with in the Boothbay Harbor region. Perhaps some of us here in Maine can come up with some places to ride and meet sometime. My family has three Honda 300 4X4's and my Yamaha Wolverine. My Wolverine has a ITP big wheel kit that helps in the mud and all our machines have Warn whinches. We like to primarily ride at night in the worst possible weather thru the deepest mud and water we can "Gortex is great". Everyone is good at ATV recovery and we are all thinking of going camping on our ATV's. Any suggestions on good legal camping trails in Maine?

Glad to see some other locals around here - I guess it's not always those people from away.
Anyway, we live in Buxton and generally ride around Buxton, Hollis, Limington - but we are always looking for other fun places to ride.
Maybe we could all arrange to meet for a Sunday afternoon.
As you can see I ride a 00'Bomb Traxter - which I LOVE and hubby rides a Sportsman 400.
Talk to you soon.

I am from Maine I live up north Caribou area. I ride a Polaris 2000 Xplorer 250. There is allot of riding up here. There are over 70 miles of just old rail beds that lead to many trails. They are marked with signs for gas and food and miles to the nearest towns. Luckily the rail beds go through several towns along the way so supplies are always not to far away. It is possible to ride 160 miles in day and not really use all the trails. I also ride at my cabin in Haynesville Maine. There are so many roads and trails in that area I could not even begin to estimate mileage? www.mainerec.com lists some of the trails from Aroostook county. And atv maps are avaliable.

I am from Maine. I live on Cape Cod now, until I get out of the military this spring. I spend alot of time in Corinth (near Bangor) at my sisters. I try to ride up there as much as i can. I'd love to meet some new people and find some new places to ride!!!

I'm originaly from Maine I live in VA. now but I do spend all of my vacation time at my folks home in ME. I get up 2-3 weeks out of the year and always bring my '85 FL350R when possible. I will be up again in late December for the holidays, if theres not too much snow perhaps some one could show me some new trails to ride or perhaps I could show someone the trails I ride.

Hi Mainers
A great place to camp and ATV is in Palmyra ME. It's a wilderness campground off of Rt. 152. Take exit 38 off Rt 95. The campsites are rite on Douglas Pond which is part of the Sebasticook river. An old railroad bed runs through the 125 acre property.
Now for the disclaimer! I have never ridden an ATV there because I don't have an ATV yet, but I have spent the last 12 years camping there for most of the summer and have seen ATV's pull in off the railroad bed. The fishing is great. The new owners, Harry and Diane are very friendly.
There is no electricity or plumbing, but there is a spring feed well with a hand pump. Last year I purchased some property about 20 miles south of there so I wont be camping there next summer, but I will be riding the trails in to visit. Most of the time I've camped there, I was the only one there. Its not well known, yet!
The campground is called Natures Way. 207-487-3406. Tell em' Sid sent ya!
