Little Monadnock Family Trails, NH
#1111
I live in RI and just happened across this riding area in NH. As you know, RI has no legal riding whatsoever. I'm lucky enough to have enough property to play around on but sure would like to go ride in an ATV friendly enviroment. Can you guys tell me if I need the machines registered in NH as well as belonging to the club? I'm assuming I do. Looks like about an about an 1 1/2 drive from northern RI. Anyone else here from RI?

Thinking of heading up in the next couple of weeks. I am coming from metrowest mass. How are the trails? I am planning on bringing both of my daughters 8 and 11, both have Kawi KFX90s. Would the trails be easy enough for them to handle?
Thanks

Hi Dave:
The trails at LMFT are a good mix of everything BUT, there is a challenging 2 mile trail you need to climb to get there from the parking area. I don't know the riding level of your girls, but if they are newbies, you may want to start somewhere a little easier.
The steep trail into the riding area can be a little intimidating for a beginner. (And some of the trails inside the riding area have been known to be steep enough to roll my Rincon).
The best bet for them would be some of the rail trails. There is one in Newport and one in Derry (Rockingham Trail). I have also heard that Pisgah SP is great for beginners. I would try either of those before I recommended you take your daughters up LMFt.
But once you get up the steep beginning, it is a nice mix of dirt roads, woods trails and powerlines.
Good luck!

I agree with Wilson that you might want to start them somewhere other than LMFT. There are some pretty challenging trails there. When my buddies' and my kids were young we had the luxury of letting them ride on property he has in NH. It's a better way to go if you know someone with some acreage and some flat trails they can learn on.

Isnt' it sad that this father/daughter ATV trip can't legally happen in MA.
