for those with gps- use the following address, which will put you within a couple hundred feet of the staging area-

One twelve
old Richmond rd. swanzey, nh.

or-

Rt 190 north to Rt 2 west to Rt 140 north and then merge onto Rt 12 north.
Follow 12n into troy, new Hampshire-
Pass through troy town center, a few (miles ??) up, look for Flat Roof Mill Rd on left (towards Keene motorsports)
take left onto Flat Roof Mill Rd- follow past Kene motorsports (will be on your right) to a fork.
Bare left on to Old Richmond
Fire Pond parking (staging area) will be on your left maybe a mile or so up.

I have to get a sticker also, so I'll be heading up early-
You guys want to do breakfast at the diner in troy around 730-800 or just meet up at the staging area?

Are you talking about a NH registration sticker or do you need a club sticker to park there?

You only need a NH sticker. Club membership is not required but highly recommended. Only $25 and helps them get funding to keep the trails as nice as they are.

With the weather forecast I just saw, its not likely trails will be open. Mud's coming early. 50's all week will make it nasty up there.

Yeah, everything's listed as washed-out/closed on the club website updated today... How long does it take to transition from sled season to muddin' season ? They wouldn't keep it closed just because it's muddy would they ?

Mud season in NH is until second week of May. Thats for state lands.

This is private land so they can open it at their discretion but doubtful it would be much before then. Gonna be a wet spring.

ok the reason it closes for mud season is pretty simple. the ground is frozen . when it thaws and tires from an atv goes over it. it will harden and make that rut. now when the mud season is over. sure there will be mud holes. but they want to keep the regular trails fine instead of all rutted up.

Well that makes sense. Still sucks tho but I guess the riding would be pretty lousy if all of the trails were a total mess.
