We are just finishing up our second trip to hm this summer. The first trip we rode one day at Little coal river. We got 125 miles in. It was well groomed and we were able to ride all the green, blue , and black trails. We stayed at little coal river campground (very nice) and had good riding.

The first day of this trip we rode Bear Wallow. I wasn't really a fan. It was very rocky. I felt like I was getting bounced the entire 60 mile ride. The local town of Logan is ATV friendly, but only a limited number of streets.

The second and third days of this trip we rode rockhouse. The trails are great. There is a lot of variety and the black trails are plenty challenging. If you come here you will get the real wv experience. Lot more quads riding around towns and even the highways. You will be treated with southern hospitality. If you ride here I would suggest staying in the cabins at canebrake. Home We stayed in the willow there and it was very nice. We rode all day then went wading in the stream. I would suggest the pizza place in Gilbert and giovonnis and the hillbilly firepit in man. We rose 175 miles in two days and saw all the blue and green trails and about half the black. If you stay here I would not suggest staying in the town of Gilbert. If you ride a couple days you will get tired of riding the long connector into town. At the willow we rode out or cabin and straight up to where the connector meets the rest the trails.

The last day of this trip we rode buffalo mountain. Nice trails but not as well maintained a rockouse. Again a good variety in difficulty. This was definitely wetter than rockhouse or bear wallow (they were both dusty) and had plenty of holes for us to play in. If you need ATV parts on this system check out the parts place in matewan. Owner there was very helpful and friendly.

I would rate the systems as rockhouse number one, little coal river and buffalo mountain tied for two and have no desire to go back to bear wallow. I don't know how long you plan to stay, but I would suggest planning to hit a couple systems on the trip. Try to hit one on you way in, stay at another and if time allows try another on the way out. They are only about 45 minutes apart and you will get to see different terrains.

I am from Ohio and the 4 plus hour drive down is well worth it. Staying at rockhouse and riding and talking with the locals in Gilbert and man has been a great experience. Good luck with your trip and ride safe. These hills will make junk quick if you let them!
