Marengo Swamp Run
#1
I'm interested in attending this years swamprun in Louisianna, but I would like to hear from others who have ridden it before about personal experiences with the run. i hear it's about a 20 mile trail with almost nothing but mud. Is this true? Do you have to go through the hole or are their trails around some holes? I feel certain I could handle most of the mud, but I'm concerned about others who may attend with me. I would hate for them to not have a good time because they couldn't make it through all of the mud. Any info would help!

Swamp,
I haven't been, but have several friends that went last year and said that for the most part, if you've got a good 4x4 with some decent tires and riding ability, you can make alot of the mudholes. They also said that there were a few that seems to just swallow every machine that dared to jump in.. but, there are trails around every hole, just in case you decide you want to avoid one of them.
Its only a one day thing from what I understand, and you aren't allowed to camp there or brink alcoholic beverages into the "park"
I want to go this year also, so when anybody hears anything, please post it on here..
Thanks...

I went last year and aside from an aching "monkey butt" I had a great time. There are secondary trails around the holes that you can take to avoid getting stuck. I will problably take my son this year on an Lt80, if that gives anyone a clue. There is one hole at the very end that you must go through to get out. It's more like a creek that flows mud, but there is always help.
If I am not mistaken, there is a picture of this hole at: http://mudtires.com/stuff.html

As I said, I believe that this is the same hole, although I may be mistaken.

Thanks for the info and keep us informed on the dates, etc. I am really looking forward to this ride. I LIVE for the mud!!! I've got some pretty nasty mud holes here in the swamp I ride in and I hope the ones there are as good if not better! I'm also looking forward to meeting other die hard mud freaks and see what kind of quads they ride and the mods they have done to them.
Hope to see ya'll there!
