Default Summer trip to CO. or NM.?

I'm wanting to plan a trip for next year summer time to go ride our ATV's either in New Mexico or Colorado. I wanted to get some feedback as to what your opinions are and why. Here is a little about my group and what we want to do:

Most all of us ride polaris sportsman 4x4s and RZR's with maybe a couple 2wd sport quads, there will be anywhere between 4 of us going all the way up to 15+ depending on interest. 90% of us are above average riders with a few novice rides in the bunch and we like anything from slow pace to fast pace, rockcrawling to wide flat trails. I want a area that we can ride on for about 100+ miles a day and not have to ride the whole trail twice, I'd rather stay away from small short trails. We plan on riding for around 3 or 4 days total

Determining factors for me deciding on where to ride would be (in no order):
1. time of travel (we are in central Texas)
2. Lengths of trails to ride on
3. Types of trails to ride on, (fast, slow, good mix)
4. cost of any permits and such
5. How friendly the town is towards ATV's

So please post up where you think is a great place to ride with longer trails and pics or links to the area if you have them.

Thanks guys! I value the opinions of people from this forum greatly and yall will play a huge part in helping me decide where to make the trip to.

Colorado by far has more trails and is allot more friendly to ATV tourism.

Me and the wife are heading out to Taylor Park on Friday for a week. I'll have plenty of photos and video when I get back that should give you an idea of the riding out there. I'll let you know once we return.

Great Thanks! I'd really like to know what the trails are like? are they like fire roads, small double track atv only trails, 4x4 truck trails? The open fast paced roads are fun but I really like the technical hill climbs and rocky sections.

It was by far the best trip I have ever done. Some of the best trails I have ever ridden and the scenery was absolutely breath taking. We covered 330 miles in 4 days and the weather was perfect. Low 30s early in the morning but by 10am or so it was in the 60s. A few of the higher elevation areas we rode such as Mt Antero, Flag Mtn, and Pearl Pass had snow but just a light dusting and made for some great pics. Unlimited riding out that way and some of the trails are smooth while some others such as Taylor Pass are extremely rocky. Not a must have, but I was glad I had IRS and power steering. The first 3 days we covered right over 90 miles per day and on the last day we loaded up and headed over to Crested Butte and rode the Devils Punchbowl. This is a must ride trail and was one of our favorites.

We made reservations for next Sep before we left and if looking to go during July or Aug I suggest calling now and having your name added to the waiting list. They have 33 cabins and all 33 are already reserved for July and Aug of 2012. It's that good. We used the Charles Wells book for Taylor Park as a guide and it was spot on and I highly suggest picking up a copy before riding there for the first time.

I have about 1200 pictures to sort thru as well as hours of video to piece together. I'm almost done with the video from day 1 and will post it up once I have finished. There are a few pictures posted here:
