Midwest trails besides Wisconsin
Does anyone know of any good trail rides in Southern Illinois, Indiana or Missouri? We live just outside Chicago and spend much of our summer on the trails in Northern Wisconsin (Iron County, Bayfield and Ashland County, Dead Horse Run, etc.) We are itching to get riding this season but not in the snow so we’re hoping to find some trail systems south of us. I can’t seem to find much out there that’s less than a 6 hour drive from Chicago. I have come up with Interlake State Recreation Area and Redbird State recreation Area. Anyone ridden either? Or heard anything about them? Good riding? Worth the 300+ mile trip? Anyone have any other suggestions for good weekend trips from Chicago? It seems most places I find are off road parks- I want trails.
