Gsport500,

We're cool. Don't worry about me, I'm just blowing off steam at the state, not at you.

The 25 mph limit comes from the speed limit on the ANF trails. Also, it is the state standard for use on it's trail system. I do know that the dirt roads (if they are posted) have a 35 mph speed limit. I guess the nabobs in Harrisburg don't want us going any faster (after all we're just stupid people and need to be looked out for, right?). If you look on the Allegheny Online homepage for the TDF, you'll see it says a speed limit of 25 mph. I agree, 35 would be better for the roads, and I can see the 25 mph for the trail sections and the roads in Marienville. But to have a 25 mph limit on all the trails, no that's not reasonable.

Still, how can I tell if I'm going too fast without a speedometer? Most sport machines don't have them, even as an option. I mean what looks like 25 (or 35) might be a lot faster.
