How was Salamanca on 4/28
#2
I guess it was pretty fun. I got about 2 miles into the trails and put a hole in my left rear tire. That really sucked!!! I was having a blast, we let everyone else get ahead of us before we took off, so we could ride. I just turned around and rode back to the truck, leaning heavy on the right side. Oh well, after the group I went with got back, they found someone who could plug my tire (had to use 4 or 5 plugs). By then, it was too late to hit the trails. Good thing there's 2 more. I'll have to try it again.

It was great! Excellent ride! I was with Scramblerdrew and Bigcrashcris. Got stuck twice. Gonna have bigger meats next year. This pokerrun is a must if you are within 100 miles! This trail blows Cochranton away. I think I rode for about a total of a mile on a dirt road. It was all through the woods. I'll be at the other two.

JCTBOARD,
Do you ride any of the old quarrys in the area? I keep driving by them and they're tempting me....wonder if I should take the chance? Once in a while I see dirt bikes but no 4wheelers. Just wondering.....Do have any place local you ride? I generally head to the southern tier or northern PA.
Take care, Randy

I rode one of the quarrys 2 summers ago. It was the "warm-up" pit that you could go to before the dice run. All we did was go to the house that look out over the quarry and asked the guy that lived there( who owned the land and if we could we ride on it.) He said the Reservation owned it and we could ride on it, he said if we had problems to just come back and he would straighten things out. The pit is really sweet with lots of big hits. You can't really go wrong with just asking, the worst they will say is no, and then you can just drive to the next one and try the same. I've also riden on some trails more in the middle of salamanca, and they were really nice. The only problem is that if you get stopped by the cops on the reservation, you are screwed. Is there anywhere to ride in Alden? We had a couple quarrys in Clarence til a couple weeks ago when some one was airlifted out, since the DEC bought some wheelers(supposedly raptors) But I've still gone back there once and had no problems. I've got land out in freedom(arcade) and Great Valley(ellicottville) that I primarily ride on, but i'd love to find out about some new local spots.

I was referring to the quarries in the Clarence area. I read in the paper about the guy getting hurt there, too bad, and was wondering if that effected anything or if they kept everyone pretty much out of there to begin with? I guess I don't want to go there with my boys and have the Sheriff's end up being there. There was supposed to be a track being started in Freedom (up on top of the hill by the tower), but nothing apparently ever became of it. Nowhere of any significance to ride in Alden, at least none that I'm aware of. Used to be some trails around we'd ride back in the days of our three wheelers but I doubt we could still ride'm now. How things change! Even in Alden, let alone Clarence!!!

As far as the track in Freedom goes, it is there and open, but to Dirt Bikes only. The house my family has is on the same as the track. There are some pretty fun trails up in freedom too besides the track, but only the locals have any clue how to get to them, I am completely lost if I go by myself.
