I'm planning my first ATV trail ride with some friends for Memorial Day weekend. We'll be camping too, and I'm wondering what steps I should take to make sure our ATVs can't be stolen while we're camping or away from our campsite. Any suggestions? I plan to chain them up, but should I remove the seat and lock it in my car, or is that too extreme?!

Get the biggest chain you can find, run the same chain multiple times through all of your ATV's, and use ONLY a titanium lock. If they want your ATV, it'll take em at least an hour or 2 to unlock em. Nothing will prevent them from being stolen, but that's the best option. That, or don't get off them, and if you do, don't let em out of your sight. Yanking the spark plugs will do it, too, but that's a pain in the ***.

Hey, what I used to do, I was friends with a not so bright kid, I'd pull off the plug cap and put a non conductive object like a pencil eraser in the cap and put it back on, and he'd try and run faster to get to my bike so he could ride it before I did, and he'd lose his breath kicking it over so much, then I'd be like "wow, look at the size of that bee" or somethign stupid, (remember, he's not bright) and I'd pop the eraser out and it'd fire right up, works good, also a fun prank to play too. -Mike

My favorite is my "Harley" chain, or otherwise called a 20ft. log chain and a GOOD lock. We chain mutiple quads together--- and sleep close to 'em.

theres nothing better than removing a couple of the wheels.its a pain in the rear but its better than having your bike stolen.it only takes 5 minutes.

I use a least two seperate chains and locks to tie our quads together. That way if they get one lock off there's still another one to go. The more of a pain you can make it for someone to steal you bike the more likely they'll look elsewhere.

Lock it down? yeah, sometimes.

I always remove the ignition key though!
