Since I live nearby, I took a ride (car) out to Hillsville today around noon. Lots of No Trespassing signs. I did not see ANY trucks, trailers or quads. Completely deserted, as far as I could see from the road. Pretty odd for a weekend.

However, I play golf at a nearby course on Wednesdays, and I did hear the sound of some orv's this past week. Locals who know how to dodge the law, evidently.

 

what parking lot did you go by? Over by the super bowl lot? This really sucks,,luckily i know someone who lives right there to park at.

 

To be honest, I don't know the area real well. I turned off 224 by the Mahoning municipal building, and the lot down there was blocked off with rocks/chains. So I went down into Hillsville itself, and went down the south side of the riding area. There were many signs along that road, which comes out near Mohawk school. Didn't see anyone at all.

 

From what I heard, BFI bought the entire site...is this true? Also fines are being dished out in upwards of $300.00?

 

so what, their turning it into a dump? That would really suck

 

you have to park over by the dunes. I go every weekend. I park by the swamp behind the beaver damn in the gravel lot and have no problems. The locals will even tell you not to worry about it. The guy at the fireworks place lets me park there but I ride with a good friend of his. The noTres. signs are over by the superbowl. and stay away from the BFI place too, they'll call the cops.
