With Deer Opener in Minnesota this weekend, we have to venture over to Wisconsin for a one last good ride this weekend. Has anyone rode Iron River in October ? How are the trails? do we need chainsaws or drags for the trails? Should be a good last ride if the weather holds out. Any comments would help us plan the trip.

There is some decent riding up there, rode the area once on atv and a few times on sled. It was a couple years ago. Have the tri county corridor that goes between Superior & Ashland which is an old rail grade, that gets boring though. The better trails that go through the national forest and up to Lake Superior are north. Battle axe, Iron River, Valhala trails. Have the map in front of me here. Need any more info let me kno.

Fishbones,

From what I've gathered, some of the best riding in the state.

Hey Upnort, how is the Wild Rivers Trail (Corridor 53)? It must run pretty close to you. I may be moving very soon to your neck of the woods and would like to check it out. I see that the trail is very long but what is the ride like?

The trails up there are alot of fun. I went ridding up there the first weekend of Oct, with are ATV club. We put on 110miles the first day and 50miles the second day. The railroad grade gets old, but the other trails are alot of fun. Good Luck with the trip and have a safe drive.
Thanks

Todd, The Wild Rivers is a X-rail grade and so is pretty much a long straight away broken by stop signs etc. It is a 126 mile round trip from Rice Lake to Solon springs. I rode it a few times but never took any of the feeders off it from Solon springs, have heard that there are some from there. In this area I prefer the Birchwood area which is more diverse woods & the Tuscobia which branches to the Blue hills area and goes to Park Falls. My girlfriends brother in law recommend it highly and he is an avid rider. There is supposed to be a major mudding area called the "Dead Horse" near Loretta. Haven't tried a whole lot of it as I pretty much ride alone and thus gets pretty boring rather quickly. If you get up (down-over) this way let me know and we can give it a try. Not sure where Wilton is. So did you get your zilla parts back yet? Read your story last night and the possible break through at the end. Good Luck

...NO PARTS
...NO RESPONSE

I've got my fingers crossed real tight though so we'll see if that works.
