Wayne National Forest trail report
#1
My brother and I went riding at WNF yesterday and it was a beautiful day for a ride. We rode the New Straightville loop and the MC down and over to the Snake Hollow area. No problem with the hills at Airplane Hollow(has been redone) or rt. 278(first time there but had heard it used to be a p.i.t.a. so it must have been redone too). The trails were dry and over all I think the trails were in good shape 'cept for one thing... DUST!!! I have NEVER seen so much dust on a trail. If no one was in front of you it was fine. But if you had someone in front of you, you soon learned what it was like to try and breath inside a dirty vacuum cleaner bag. There were some places the dust on the trail was at least 2 inches deep! It did make for some cool powerslides though. Now I'm going out to clean my air filter... TWO times just to be sure!

Thanks for the update. We rode the MC about 2 weeks ago. The trails were only redone up to the cemetary (about 4 miles from the parking lot.) We are glad to know that the trails have been maintained. We'll be riding there over the Thanksgiving Holidays.
Do you know if they have worked on Dorr? I'm especially interested in the rut that I was in that put my bike on it's side the last time I rode it. I had to ride up it on it's side, which I didn't particularly care for. If you park on Dorr in Lot # 3, it's about a mile. After you get past the rut, there is a large 4 way intersection. If you go straight, you end up in the pines. You turn left to continue on Dorr.

Sam, is the rut you are talking about on a hill???
There is a hill on the DR loop that is nasty to go up!! From your description..it sounds like one and the same rut. Just as I get to the top of this hill, my quad was darn near laying on it's side. That's a ride and a half now!!!
