Hey guys the old Oregon Riders post was getting really long, so I thought I'd start a new one that didn't take so long to read.

I've started up a group emailing list for local Oregon riders, and I've got about a dozen guys on it now. Anytime we plan on riding, the whole group gets an email, and this helps get more local people out riding together. It's good to meet people with the same interests. Anyway...if interested, just reply on here or send me an email.

The next ride date will be this Saturday (May 4th) at Sand Lake, and possibly Friday afternoon/evening camping over until Saturday. I'm thinking that a little night riding might be fun. Hopefully the weather will turn out.

Later....Chad

Bill, what you can do is email me a list of your buddies names/email addresses, and I'll act as the main contact. Or, I can send everyone an email and they can make their own group list. If we go the second route, we'll just have to make sure to all update our lists as new members join the group. This is a pretty "low-tech" way of communicating with each other, but I think it will work pretty well. As long as when we reply to the emails, we hit "reply-all"....everyone will be included in the conversation. This way, if someone has a question on maintenance, wants to ride, wants to find new places to ride, or just wants to B.S., we'll be able to talk with local guys who know what's good and what's bad in the area....including atv dealers, and accessory shops.

Who know's, it just might work. I've got my fingers crossed for this weekend's weather. I just ordered my dune trakker front tires/wheels from recreation tires. They said they'd get to me by Wednesday or Thursday. 3-day shipping is pretty much a gaurantee from them.

The problem with NW Motoriders is that you get a bunch of junk email about dirt bikes. I'm trying to do a quad only thing. And it seems like the people on NW Motoriders are pretty young (ie...highschool). I'm looking for more people that have their own sources of transportation, and who aren't just looking to party and get drunk. Don't get me wrong...I drink my fair share of beer, but not when I'm riding. Anyway... I was on the NW Motoriders list for about a week, and then I decided to unsubscribe from it, because it just wasn't what I was looking for. I don't like riding with dirt bikes, because if they're in front, they throw a ton of crud at you and your bike. It seems like they crash alot more too, so I always end up being the rescue rig for them. Had to put a stretcher across the racks on my wolverine last summer to get a guy out of the woods that crashed and got a compound fracture in his leg. Nothing like seeing the bone sticking out (yuck!!!). Had blood stains on my plastic after that trip.

David, do you have any other riding buddies that you communicate with on email?? If so, send the list on an email to: chadhamel@earthlink.net I'll get everyone on the list, and hopefully get a bunch of guys out to play in the sand really soon. You live in Portland, so that's pretty close to me. What days of the week do you have off?? It helps to know these things to get rides planned. We've got a couple more Raptors in the group, so one more will fit in just fine.
