New to Connection

Hi everybody! I have been following the forums for the last six months or so and have gained a wealth of knowledge. You guys have helped me modify my Warrior (pipe, k&n, modify air box, and re-jet)and I love it. I ride mostly around home but do go to Marrienville, PA a few times a year. Take it from someone who knows, stay out of the National Forest if you aren't on the designated trail systems!! Last year six of us went to Cochranton, had a blast other than the long wait at the bottlenecks, and we are going back this year again. Rather than make this too lengthy, I have a couple of questions.
1. We rode the "B" trail at Cochranton. Can anybody give me some insight to the other trails?
2.Does anybody have any experience and/or info on Madiera or Salamanca?
Thanks-Ride Safely

I went to the spring Salamanca dice run last year and I had a blast! But I won't be going back because they were selling beer for 2 bucks a can.
I'm not down on drinking but don't mix it with driving anything. If you don't mind that going on and want to experience one of the mudiest, & hilliest 34 mile runs around go for it. I didn't get stuck in the holes or stopped on the hills but lots of guys did. The big holes had people sitting around watching everyone get stuck. There seemed to be some looks of disbelief when my stock Scrambler 400 zipped through everything. I finished in 3 hours and I wish I could look forward to going back. Don't go to Willow Creek unless you want to feel like Fred Flintstone. That whole trail is solid rock, roughest 10 miles I ever rode. I was wondering why there wasn't anybody there till I did a loop. I'm going to try some of the other Allegany trails because I'm from NY and we don't have any trails. You PA guys should consider yourselves blessed, I've got to go pretty far to hit a legal trail from Buffalo.

Andy,
I rode Willow Creek a couple of years ago before I had my quads. I had a ATC 250SX and had some serious trouble going over the trees that were down on the trail. It seems that they don't give a hoot about trail maintainance in that district. With no hills or even serious mud and several sections not very well marked the trail gets a two thumbs down from me. I haven't been back since.
Marienville (ATV trail) on the other hand, the rangers there seem unhappy unless the trail is smooth enough to run a NASCAR event on. I applaud them in their efforts though. They are slowly but surely doing the same thing to the bike trail as they did with the ATV trail. Smoothing out some of the rough spots. Why last year they even put a bridge up in a section I amusingly call the "Rock Garden" It is where the trail splits in two, goes through some rocks and then up over a hill.
Rocky Gap is a pretty good trail. I like the idea of dual skill level there as in Marienville. It is just a little too short for me. Nice hill climbs though.
The Timberline is great. It has just the right amount of length to it that I can barely make it the whole way around it on one tank of gas. I usually park at Pigs Ear and ride both the Marienville trails and the Timberline trail.
My girl and I are going to try the Susquehannock (state) trail this year. I've ridden it before and it has just the right amount of length, is well marked and is fairly smooth for beginners. The scenery is top notch too.
Hope to see you there this year!
