I'm probably going to be moving to Texas in a while and where i'm moving there is a desert right next to it from a 2 hour drive away. I'm moving to Lubbuch. I forgot what the desert right next to it was called. Anyone know what its called and if people ride there,at all on holidays or anything?

Monhans Sand Dunes. I think the riding area there is pretty small.

It's been years since I have been to Monahans Sand Hills. What I remember is this. It's not a huge area but not small either. Back then you could ride any where. High winds make for some super steep, dangerous lee sides. Watch for buried pipes! There is quite a few and the bowl that was clear of pipes last week may have one just about neck high this week.

Oilfield pipes that were run across the sandhills before it was leased to the State. Just for grins I went to the Texas Parks and Wildlife website today and their was absolutley no mention of ATV riding at the park. So, I'm not even sure that one can ride there anymore. Besides Monahans Sandhills State Park is probably close to 4 hour drive from Lubbock.

You can still ride there in the monahans sand hills. i live about 20 miles from both the monahans sandhills and the kermit sandhills and also jal sandhills. the best bet out of all three of them is the kermit sandhills and it's only about a 2 and half hour drive from lubbock. whenever someone goes out there to the kermit hills someone give this mexican a rign a ding and i'll do my best to get off work and go out there.

Your 4x4 would make it out there ronnie. there are lot's of hunting fourwheelers and other quads out there. Certain places in the middle can cause u to get stuck but it's a real fun place to be out here in west texas. there's has been some pretty fast 4x4 quads out there so im pretty positive that your's would make it there with no problems

Like SomeCrazyMexican said, it is about 2 1/2 hours from Lubbock. Fun place to ride. It is 7 hours from my place and I am about 6 hours from Little Sahara. I was just sitting at the dinner table talking to my wife trying to decide which one I want to go to this weekend. I have some friends from Ft. Worth going to Kermit so will probably head that way. The weather is supposed to be cooler at Little Sahara and that sounds good also.
