I have done a bunch of posts on this area in the past. Search both "Bishop" and "Inyo", you will probably come up with something. Inyo NF has an "open unless posted closed" riding policy on DIRT ROADS (so you can ride any dirt road you can find!!!), but there are no open single track trails. The riding right around Big Pine is a bit limited, because you are hemed in by a steep canyon and Wilderness area, but if you are willing to drive to Bishop (about 40 min) it is worth it!! There are four rides I would suggest. Coyote Flats, Rock Creek, Silver Canyon, and Buttermilk. I have posted detailed stuff on all these rides in the past, but let me know if you can't find them. The valleys are still VERY HOT, but all these rides (except Buttermilk) are at very high altitude (like up to 10,000 ft), so it is nice and cool up there.
Also, there is the Mazourka Canyon ride out of Independence. This goes through a lot of old mining country. Get a forest service map at the first ranger station you pass.

By the way, when were you going to be up there? There is a SLIM chance we might be in Bishop on Labor Day Weekend. We usually don't do Bishop until after late September though, when the valley begins to cool off a bit.
