There is a riding ranch near Post, Texas, but it is way expensive.
We are going to Fritch and the free Lake Meridith riding areas this week end. Its about 25 miles due north on Amarillo.

It used to be great riding in the Canadian river bed which runs into Lake Meridith. The best place to get to the river bed was at the highway 287 bridge over the river north of Amarillo. I haven't been there in a lot of years and it may have changed. When I used to ride the river bed, it was all four wheel drive trucks and dune buggys and dirt bikes. Lots of water, but mostly deep sand. Watch the wet sand. I've heard of vehicles that just disappeared in it. Your okay in the dry sand and the sand where water is running over it.

There should be some good riding around the White river and Buffalo lake near Lubbock.
