Are there any legal places to ride in S. Ma?
#2
For ATV's, no, there's really no legal riding in S. MA. However, if you're willing to travel a couple hours to get out to the Berkshires in Western MA, there are many places to ride. October Mountain State Forest, for example, has over 14,000 acres of trails, and there are even some sand pits nearby. It's a great place to spend a day.
I encourage you to join an ATV club to meet new riders in your area, attend club rides, and support the clubs that are trying to get new riding areas opened. The biggest and best club in MA is NEATVA, New England ATV Association. Our web page is currently under reconstruction, but it should be back soon at http://members.aol.com/neatva . And if you want more info and an application, drop a note to the following address:
NEATVA
PO Box 86
Southbridge, MA 01150
NEATVA now organizes both trail rides and MX races. I do both, and we have a lot of fun. Feel free to email me with any questions.
