Default Need Southern California Dune Information

I have a trip for work to Orange County in the first week of December. What is the best place to ride the Dunes? Glamis, Dumont or Pismo? Are they any hotels that anyone recommends? Any information would come in handy.

Thanks,

David

GLAMIS!! It is kind of in the middle of nowhere, so most people camp. The nearest town is Brawley, which has some motels.

The drive from OC is 2.5 to 3 hrs. I can give you directions if you need them. When exactly are you going to be out here?? Maybe we can meet you and show you around????

Looks like our riding days will be the 5th, 6th, 7th of December... Yeah if you would like to show me around I would be really happy if that could happend. Because I will get down there blind. It looks like we leaning towards staying in El Centro, CA. I will alot more information like where we will be staying etc by the end of the week.

You are lucky if you can go on the 5th and 6th, because you will have the place to yourselves. On the weekends it gets crowded, and can be nuts!! There is lots of other great riding areas close by (Ocotillo Wells, Superstition Mountain), if you want to try some desert cross-country (bring your regular tires). From El Centro, it will probably take you an hour to get to Glames. E-mail me as the time gets closer, and we will see what works out. wkelln@ahs.llumc.edu
