You guys should plan a trip down to the dunes one weekend. Sand Lake isn't that far for a day trip, but I suppose the Southern Dunes (Florence, Coos Bay....etc) would be a bit of a drive. I'm sure I could round up a few riders out of my "club". I've got like 30 local riders in the Portland area, and on any given weekend can get at least 4 to go out and play. It's getting close to Winter, so the dunes aren't so crowded, and the hills are getting steeper.

Chad400ex Florence is the place for me. I would like to do an overnighter to florence over the thanksgiving weekend. I just can't find a place to park my van. Can you recommend a place? We need to get BigHonda down there. I would love to ride with a big group like that. Sand Lakes is easier for me to find a place to flop for the ight though.

Well, Winchester Bay is just 20 minutes past Florence (heading south). You can drive out onto the sand there and camp just about anywhere you want. I think that's the best place to just park and camp. Even further South at Horsefall, they have an overflow sand camping area, and from there, you are just a quick ride to "Boxcar" which is the big drag racing hill. I haven't actually ridden at Florence. I have been meaning to get there, but I'm allways drawn to the places that I'm allready familiar with. Winchester has the steepest dunes in the state, and it's not all that crowded from what I've seen. I was there a few weeks back, on a perfectly sunny and clear day, and there probably wasn't any more than 40-50 riders out there to share all of the dunes. You could ride for 15 to 30 minutes without seeing another rider. That was a great day.
