yellowstone rentals?
#1
The family and I are planning to visit Yellowstone and the area around there in August. We ride here around the farm in Pennsylvania, and would like to ride in the open spaces to see some of the country there. Do any of you have recommendations on where are the best areas are and if we could rent a 4-wheeler there, any recommendations on who to see? Way to far to haul ours, as we are going via MI and MN across the Dakotas. Probably would only be a one day ride---Wife and daughter wouldn't like us, 17 year old son, to go much longer. Should we bring GPS along?
Thanks,

GPS is always good to have regardless. Bring it.
Im not sure if you can rent 4-wheelers to ride in Yellowstone. I believe they are banned. You may be able to rent them in Cody, Wyoming which is near the east entrance, or West Yellowstone (Montana/west entrance). These are both cool places to visit.
Go in the winter and rent snowmobiles in West Yellowstone,,,,before they choke them out all together. You can still ride the snowmobile in the park.
Have a good time, and if you plan to camp in the park, you had better make reservations, especially if you are going in August. Yellowstone has gotten very busy recently. Also, bring firewood with you.

In Cody the Forestry service says your quad has to be street legal for your state and have insurance on it. Have eye and head protection, then you can ride any where you want. They have all the maps and you can ride all the back roads in the park along with the main highways.
But didn't find rentals, other than motorcycles.

If you are planning to be near west yellowstone you could make about a 30 minute drive up to island park Idaho. They have nice lodging and lots of places to rent sleds or quads and miles of trails to ride. I have ridden up there many times and they have great mountain trails. Any place you rent from can direct you to the trails. They have great fishing up there as well. sheesh I sound like the chamber of commerce guy.
