Cool pictures 7-3-08 local ride

My helmets have saved me from serious pain several times. Like when I didn't duck quite far enough going under a low branch. It still didn't feel good with a helmet on but at least my scalp is still in one piece. I rolled an ATV and hit my head so hard I saw double for a few minutes. Without a helmet it could have been a lot worse. I've had several accidents, including getting rear-ended <u>and</u> hit head-on while I was stopped, so I wear a helmet whether I think I need it or not. It's the law in my state anyway and I don't want to get fined $75-100 or whatever it is. The pics are cool but give our enemies ammunition to fight us with. If one person is irresponsible and gets hurt we all get get a bad reputation.

And of course... no helmets.... good job.</end quote></div>
Well helmets are overrated anyway.... I mean really, do we NEED our brains to survive?
Well truth is they are probably some of those people who never hit their head... they've been riding for years with no helmet and they've never hit their head. Or they are so athletically gifted that they can always contort their bodies so that their heads never hit anything......they are good like that...
So if the guy on the waterfall had flipped back and crushed his skull on a rock - spilling his brains into the river, it would probably be the ATVs fault.... then we can watch the media and his family cry about how dangerous the machines are and should really be banned or have roll cages etc...etc...etc.....</end quote></div> If you two spent as much time worrying about and criticizing what you were doing yourselves instead of always worrying about what the other guy is doing all the time, your time would be much more productively spent. The fact that you dont know me, my family, or the extent of our riding skill, and would still jump to the conclusion that we are sue happy, blame laying, uneducated, people truly points out your lack of maturity If you feel as strong as you do about wearing helmets 100% of the time, more power to you, its a free country and thats your right, and if a low hanging grape vine catches the chin portion of your helmet or your visor and god forbid injures or kills you, I would not criticise your decision to wear one, I would pray for you and your family in that difficult time. I can respect how strongly both of you feel about wearing helmets, but I dont think junior high level insults are the best way to get your message across to the general public.

Very nicely put Ryan! As one who only wears the helmet where the law states I must on an atv or motorcycle, I agree. I am an adult that is new to atving but has riden motorcycles for to many years to admit and without a helmet every chance I get. That is with doing 70+ mph with all the idiot's on there phones! On the trail where your average speed is what 20mph. I think I will chance it!

Yep, Dennis just held the throttle wide open, and cranked it off and on for 30 or so seconds and it fired right up. It was just a little flooded from laying on its side. Both rider and machine were just fine.

At least have a helmet on. Thats why we are always called "stupid atv riders" or "dumb". But I guess you'll see why you should've wore one someday. Nice pics though!</end quote></div>
Yeah I know, most of the time we do wear them. What you cannot tell is that most of the creek riding is pretty slow paced, and this is our "backyard", and we know it like the back of our hand, sure stuff can still happen even in places you know at slow speeds. I could just as easily slip and fall while walking the creek and fataly hit my head, but I don`t wear a helmet when I walk the creek either. Most of the time, we ride at a quick pace and do some extreme stuff, and at those times we are always wearing helmets. Baconbits, I do thank you for expressing your opinion in a respectful way, and in the future I will try to only post pics. of us when we are wearing helmets. Here is Photographic proof that we do actualy wear helmets, at least most of the time.
