Default Rhino winch wiring?

When installing winch wiring, do you need to splice onto the ignition hot wire or is there an accessory plug that doesn't require splicing? I don't want the winch power on all the time only when the ignition is on. Please help!

Can you read a volt meter?. If you can, and you have one; check your fuse box for a circuit that is hot when the key is on, and dead when it is off. You can tap into that fuse without splicing wires, just go to RadioShack and get some fuse taps to fit your fuses. They slip over the fuse and give you a hot tap out. Use a fuse rated as high as the contactor.

Wire the contactor hot side to that tap, waterproof it; ground the contactor good, and wire the winch straight to the battery; and you should be good to go.
