Default oil in air box

my Rhino 660 uses a little oil and when I take the air filter out there is always oil in the box, I think it is coming from the cranck breather tha tconects to the top of the box.

Default oil in air box

I have found this when I was climbing a steep hill or getting on the gas when sideways. One of my buddies was riding in a bowl at Dumont and got quite a bit sideways and it shot out a lot of black smoke and it stopped. We took it all apart and the whole airbox was filled with oil. Some say its blow by from the compression side of the Piston meaning your rings may need to be changed.

This same thing was happening to someone I know... the machine ended up dying, and he had to have the top end rebuilt. I know he rode it real hard and didnt have it regularly serviced. So, a top end gasket kit, a used cylinder and piston etc, 6 hours of shop time and $700 later, it runs like a champ. Make sure you service it at regular intervals... a gasket kit ($65) and new rings ($25) should help it at this point. Check the rings first. Hope this helps. BTW- If you're riding in real dusty areas or dunes, the air filter needs to be cleaned and re-oiled quite regularly (every 5-6 hrs!)
