Help, Jetting for a 686 Raptor
#1
Can someone tell me what I need for jetting on my 686 trinity raptor?
Stock carbs, K&N filter, HMF full exhaust system, trinty 686 kit, full porting, oversized valves.

maybe try dynojet needles like bigbubba. the thinner needles will richen up the mid range.

I ended up with a 170/165 mains, DJ needles on 4th position. And installed the dial-a-jets.
The part I hate the most is having to tear it all apart just to change jets. The carberators and the changing of jets is one place yamaha could have done better.
Seems to run good at least for the few jabs at the throttle in the driveway. Haven't got to test ride it yet.

Thanks Blue Leader, the dj needles did the trick. And by the way, the the 4 stroke wars video sneak peak was cool. That one event, with a side trip to trinty's shop, that I sure would like to do. But it's a long way to go from Idaho.

That jetting sounds weird to me for a 686. I am running 180/185 with stock needles in 3rd clip with a stock engine and pipe and filter, no airbox. Mine runs like a beast. But I say, hey, if it works - great! It took me a year of f-ing with jetting and mods to finally get it to run like it should. Now I am getting an Edelbrock carb and I will have to screw with it even more for awhile. But at least each adjustment will only take 5 minutes now instead of 50!
