How long does a Ported banshee live?
#1
Im thinking about saving up about 3 or 4 grand and buying a banshee. There are no stock banshees to be found. And although I dont like to live with other peoples engine work. If the price is right I might buy it anyway. How long does a mildly ported banshee engine live between rebuilds? I know mild is a broad term, but is the life expectancy liveable? I ride quite a bit when my machines aren't broken (1-3 days a week for about 4 hours each day). A rebuild every year is about as much as I will do. And only then if its just rings. I dont want to buy pistons every year. I could, but its just not something I want to do.

It can last a long time with a lot of TLC. It also depends on how much you ride, were you ride, to what extent the porting is at, keeping the motor kool; not letting it overheat. Also; if you have a high horsepower banshee a top of the line crank is a must or it will eventually give up on you. That could be minor or a major disaster. Just a few things to think about.
