Unless the head has cracks anywhere the head can be rebuilt I have seen car heads it worse shape then that rebuilt, You might have to go bigger vavles with matching seats and will just have those gouges in the dome but should come out ok.
Dude that sucks any way you look at it. Hope you get it back together soon

he is a yamaha certified mechanic and did it on the side.
RudyRaptor Perhaps he is a certified parts cleaner, or floor sweeper. I am sure he is a good mechanic, but I think he got in a big hurry and was not paying attention. It happens to the best of us, but it is no excuse for him not to take responceability for what he has done. You have spent a lot of money and no fun time riding.

After that pounding a new rod is definitely in order and the knucklehead should pay for it. Your quad should be restored to the condition it should have been in and all costs over the original agreed upon amount should be eaten by the mech a neck that trashed your motor.

Rudy,
Incase you missed it. I asked what kind of valve springs are those in your pictures and what cam you used. TIA. Its just for my future possible use. It's not in reference to your problem here. If anyone else knows what kind of springs those are could ya please tell me, obviously it would be harder to know what stage or kind of cam that is. TIA
