Default Sand Dunes in Texas?

Where are the closest sand dunes from Houston, Texas that are worth taking a trip to go to? Thanks, Ryan

Little Sahara in western Oklahoma, lots of fun. I'm constantly running into people who come there from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, etc. Check this out:

I would assume that Kermit is closer to Houston than LS.

Wow I checked Yahoo maps and both were right at 9 hours and 580 miles. Almost the exact same distance from Houston.

If you have a big group, and want some space with great sand, and great trail riding on ALOT of samll steep dunes, Then Kermit is for you!

If you want to go were the people are,and want to see(and race) some FAST quads, along with great trail with tree's, and larger dunes then go to Little Sahara OK.

Little Sahara has really good Facilities, and both a Conveinient store, and ATV shop in camp, But the sand is Most always CHOPPY becuase the quads keep it rutted.

KERMIT has much nicer sand, cause very few people go thier, because 1) location, and 2) NO facilities. The town of Kermit is 7 miles away, and they have motels, and some eating places, and grocery store.

Kermit is definately the place to go if you don't want many people around, we went Labor Day weekend last year and there were probabaly only 50-75 people around. Only problem is everything in town closes EARLY so make sure you are stocked up on stuff you need, otherwise it's about a 25 mile drive to the next decent sized town.
