well as of last week, it was all stock so technically it should be jetted correctlly, right? and i am at a decently high altitude so if anything wouldnt that make it run a little on the rich side?

Just curious, how little oil do you have to have in order to do damage? in actual amount, not a dipstick reading. the dipstick doesnt override simple logic. If you know the amount of oil actually in it, it really doesnt matter what the dipstick says, does it? 2 quarts of oil is two quarts of oil no matter if the dipstick says nothing or its an inch over the ok zone. shouldnt i go by the actually amount of oil that I KNOW is in it rather that what a spastic dipstick reading says?

and it cant be the coolant becase warriors do not have coolant.

i tried smelling the engine, i pick up the smell most near under the seat in the air box area. Maybe its the smell of the plastic? whatever it is, my warrrioor had it when i got it used with 2 yrs on it already. Im trying to relate the two somehow.

and for all you sarcastic people, no im not some dirty hick and the smell is body odor or $hit i sat on from the 12 dogs i have inside my trailer and car with one wheel. lol

it did seem to be running hotter, the pipes made the cracking noise...unless its just my mind playing games on me. i cant figure out if i remember them making that noise before that.

 

me and sixsixt take care of my oil and i have no problems!!!!

2 and a half quarts when you take out the filter and 2 if you dont ,but i start it and check it about 3 times to make sure,and when i begin to ride i also check again..

 

sounds good to me. I had two in with just the oil change and it was at the bottom line in the ok. This was after riding it for about 20 min. Anybody who knows about this kind of thing know whats the least amount of oil you can have before doin damage. obviously there is xtra oil in there to protect for margin of era. How much oil is actually need to operate. 1.5?

 

and btw, thanks airraptor. Iwill definately try it when i get my raptor back with the yosh. How much more power should i expect? Should i sit on the gas tank. Im guessing its gonna give me a lot of bottom end. well anyway, like i said, im just curious to how little oil you have to have to do damge?

 

86 I am absolutely possitivly 100% certain that the total amount is what it would take to fill the system if it were totally dry. Always go by the dip stick. If you had 2 quarts of oil in it it would be fine I think anything under a qt. would be pushing it.

 

really??!?!?!?! wow, i didnt think you could go that low. i was pretty sure that once you get passes the bottom of the ok line it didnt necessarily mean there is less oil going to vital components. i knew there still how to be atleast a little more of a surplus even with just two that had to be just sitting in the reserviour at any given point when the engine is running.

SO u say its 1 quart when ALL the oil is in the raptor is actually in use lubricating the raptor at once. (cause normally even with the right amount, yes, i know ALL the oil is lubricating the engine but its not all in use at once. the xtra sits in the reservior until it is exchanged with some of the hot oil previously protecting the engine. that oil then sits in the reserviour and become the "xtra" and the same cycle occurs. DO i have this right?? i think i do.

If your sure about that 1 quart thing, or even if its 1.5 at worst then im still fine cause its always had atleast two quarts in it. thanks sixsixt, youve been so helpful to me in the past months, i really appreciate it. And thanks for not gettin anoyed with me and my paranoid questions. lol

 

The only way to be sure is to run it that way and I'm not volunteering. The oil light would come on or flicker if it was getting to low also. I was a mechanic for many years and more than once have I added 4 qts. of oil to a car that held 5 and that's in V8s but that's not to say it didn't do harm to the engine. So being down a qt. or so in one of these engines it's pretty safe to say you'd be OK but not something you'd want to do.
