Go to www.fmfracing.com and check out their dyno charts. They have the Raptor, YZ450F and CRF450. Their Raptor chart shows about 37, which is what everyone pretty much agrees on these days so we have a good reference point. Their YZ450F and CRF450 charts both show around 44 HP. These are all rear wheel numbers, I assume, and I'd assume all of these runs were on the same dyno.

I'll use the DRZ400 to LTZ400 engine transplant as my basis for my guess. Their DRZ400 chart shows about 34HP and their LTZ400 chart shows about 25HP stock. The YZ450F, starting at 44HP, destroked a tad (1HP loss) and with the same type of restrictive exhaust as well as more loss getting the power to the rear wheels on a quad vs a bike (same problems the DRZ to LTZ went through) - (9HP loss for both), and I'm guessing 10HP total loss from the bike. This is assuming the exhaust cam from the WR doesn't lose you anything and the carb throttle stop from the WR isn't there on the quad.

Grand total 34HP out of the box (still MUCH better than the Z400's 25HP according to FMF's numbers).

Throw in a YZ450F exhaust cam, rework the carb to remove the throttle stop if it's there, throw on a good pipe and filter, and get rid of the airbox lid and keep that 5HP loss getting the power to the wheels vs the bike, and I'm giving it about 40 HP tops. Still WAY better than the Z400's 29HP (again, FMF's numbers, not mine).

I would guess low 30's because I doubt that they are going to make it faster in a straght line than a Raptor. If they did there would be no reason left for anyone to buy a Raptor. Even with low 30's hp, it wouldn’t take to many mods to make one faster than a stock Raptor due to the weight difference.

I would bet $ that it will be under 40hp because there is just no way they are going to make a stock Quad dangerous fast ever again in the USA. Or at least until there are some major changes to the law concerning lawsuits.

It HAS to blow away a raptor in a straight line drag. They said it has the highest power to weight ratio of any four stroke. That includes the cannondale which can beat a raptor. Anyway, im guessing 35. Could be higher but I think they dont want the lawsuit. Im also gonna say you can probably get 55 hp cheap.

Less displacement than the YZ450, less compression than the YZ450, different cams than the YZ, less stroke than the YZ.

What kind of flywheel weight is there? (Surly more than the YZ450!)

RWHP is all we compare on the forums (because no one does a dyno off their crank) so we are comparing apples to apples.

32 HP is probably about right.

No way it will make over 49 HP (that is what the YZ is putting out.) I would be very suprised to see it kick out 40HP. It should fly with that.

If you wanted to mod for YZ HP you would probably stall all the time when riding trails.

Stroke produces torque, this engine doesn't have it. The Raptor may end up losing to this bike in a straight line flat race but, the Raptor will be a better trail recreational sport quad because of the torque. The 450 will need to be R'd out but, should have great quick power.

All the guys saying about 34-36 are correct in my books this isn't 450cc compression is high yes, that just means it cost alot more to fill up.

Decreassing the bore is always better then decreaseng the stroke and increasing the stroke is better than increasing the bore, you don't want it to be over square.

To all you guys who believe every slogan "The best of this, and the best of that". It's a manufactures gimmic to help them sell and some lame azz falls for it 100% LOL , don't believe everything you read or hear from a company.

There all just trying to making a sale. What's better? Coke or Pepsi?

I'm gonna have to say 0.8 horsepower at the crank. That is when the owner is trying to kickstart it with no success.

I don't see how a 450cc motor can make more power stock than a 660cc or 650cc motor (Raptor and DS650). Sup with that anyway...

Coca-Cola of course!

It's the best Cola! Duh, why would you think Coke says it's the best...when it's not...hmmm.

Pre-release hype is purdy damn lame. Wait for it to come out, and spare the excitement until they have been proven. The '01 Raptors were supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread, but they weren't that fast for such a big motor, they are tippy and unstable, handle like shizz, need new trannys and are never running.

I agree that they improved them in '02 and '03. But sliced bread still has their number.
