The engines are close to equal. Havent you ever heard of the double rule? a 2 stroke is about equal to a fourstroke of double its size. Also, a stock 250r didnt make 30 hp it made like 27 or so.

Optic you should see a doctor for that red fever! "the R is by far the best qaud out there and will only be surpassed by a new honda sport qaud" The r has been fading the last few years and will continue to fade hate to break it to ya. The R has been surpassed many times over by the aftermarket companies, It's just lately the manufactures have gotten the ***** to make competitive rides! If they continue at this pace you will see less and less R's. You can hang on to the Glory days or wait till next years from Honda as long as you like. They love loyal customers like you, buy it because it's red!

Crack on it all day, but how many of us started out with a 250R. I mean the guys in there 30's and 40's started with big reds, then after all the wrecks and pain we went to the 250Rs. So while it doesn't hang now, it is like that first kiss, you always remember the feeling!

250Rs still own the MX and TT tracks. It takes thousands of dollars to build up a 400/440cc four stroke to hang with a pipe/head/jetted 250R, and the current four strokes will blow up in about 20 hours at that level.
I'm hoping this new Yamaha changes all that, though. My Raptor will probably get replaced by one this fall, and I'll get rid of my 250R if I really like the 450. Well, maybe not. I really like two strokes!
