Fix for hard starting High Compression Raptors
I read about the Yuasa YTX20-LBS battery vs. the stock Raptor battery somewhere (I think on another forum but I'm not sure).
This battery has 270 CCA vs the stock 200. There is also a YTX20-HBS that has 310 CCA, but it is much more expensive (per my dealer) and I am not sure of the dimensions. My original battery had trouble turning over the 11:1 compression piston that i just put in, even with the decompression mechanism functional. It had been a while (March) since I ran the bike but even after a full battery charge it just wasn't spinning very fast.
I bought and installed this battery yesterday and it is great! Sounds like a stock piston is in there now; this battery is so strong and turns the motor over with ease. It is a tight fit, but it will fit. You have to modify the battery hold down as well but its really no big deal. It is probably only about 2 lbs heavier than the stocker too, although the Yuasa web site says it is 11 lbs w/o acid and I've heard the stocker is 14 lbs. It is a maintenance free battery as well and I got it for $69 from my dealer. It is the stock battery for the Grizzly.
