Your welcome. That method will be debated by others. I'll trust a reputable engine builder before most any internet chatter, if you know what I mean.

Ok, went to the badlands today and gave the raptor a good 5 or 6 hrs of riding. Still seems to be running good power wise but my plug is black, I mean everything is black, from about the third of fourth thread on the plug up. I know this is a rich condition, what should I check first?TIA

I dont understand why I'm having this problem. I figured if I was running rich enough to turn the plug this black I would notice some performance issues. The only problem I have is the occasional pop when I turn the quad off, but that only happens once every 8 or 9 rides, and its not even that loud. Any input?

If it's running good rich and has enough power and not fouling plugs I would leave it. I run mine rich and like it that way it keeps the combustion chamber cooler. The down side is a little more carbon build up and a tad of power loss.JMO
The only thing you might want to do is check the float level ( tube method ). Most are a little high and will cause it to run a little richer mostly in the pilot curcuit.

I dont think its good to run this thing with the plug looking like this. Take a look. My cam doesnt have a good zoom but you can get somewhat of an idea.

Is the back side of your plug white??? What causes that? Mine does it all the time.

BTW it looks pretty rich. IMHO but I hate plug chops.

Yes looks rich. The color is a little hard to make out it looks like it has a dark brown to it but may look different in person.
Did you ever do a plug chop and pull the plug?
If you were doing mild trail riding and at a little more than 1/8 to half throttle most of the time with short bursts of 3/4 to full throttle you won't be able to determine if it's your mains or your running rich down low to mid.
You REALLY should start your carb tuning by adjusting the floats REALLY.
I'd be willing to bet that your float level is high and the richness is from 1/8 to half throttle and your mains are very close.
I have/had the same mods on my quad as you and was running 167.5/172.5 mains and my plug had a dark brownish color, the way I like it.
