Default buying a banshee?

OK im a newbie with all this quad stuff but i want to get a 4 wheeler. i have been looking on ebay for raptors and 400ex's for awhile now but i found a 99' banshee all stock cept for a clutch, & K&N for $3400 how do i tell if this is a good deal what do i all look at to tell if its worn. the plastic is pretty good just a couple big scratches the clutch is very stiff is that good? also how loud is a stock banshee because im going to be doing a lot of my riding by my house and i dont want it too loud to **** of the neighbors. would i be able to live with the stock pipes or would it make a big power increase with different pipes. also is there a way to tell how many hours are on it? if i get it it will probably be in the next 2 days so any help will be greatly appreciated. well i think thats it, i need all the advice i can get as you can see ..thanks guys

thats not a good deal at all, sounds like a beater. I got mine for $3600 3 months ago in IMMACULANT condition. Mods are in my sig. Stock banshees aint that loud, I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS FOR YOUR FIRST QUAD!!!

I purchased a 1997 Banshee for $2500 in good shape.

If this is going to be your first quad then get a 4-stroke, do you do a lot of your maintance. A 2-stroke is sometime high maintance.

If you have friends that will help you , then that is a good thing. I have had to learn all on my own.
But sometimes friends thing they know but are really guessing. If you have your heart set on a Banshee then get one and find some one who will help you with it. I have a lot of friends that ask me for advise when they get a quad and the first thing I tell them is if you want it to last then take care of it. Don't rush to the nearest mud bog and run it all day in mud up to the top of the cylinder head.

Dirt is your worst enemy!!! Never forget that.

Some of my friends make fun of me because my Banshee is always clean, but I am also riding mine when the are installing a new top end ever year.

I agree w/ ernie 110%, its good to have friends that can help you but my best friend has been the clymer's manual. I ride w/ a few 2 smokes so they gave me some 2-smoke insight. Just keep the chain lubed, keep the filter clean and check bolts at least every other ride. Stay clean and it will save you$$$$$$
