I don't know why everyone is always bragging about their honda ATV or te cannondale, kawasaki. The top three ATV''x are the Predator, the Yfz, and the raptor. The Kawasaki may have way more cc's But it's automatic.

I remember them saying the EX had like 35 then 33, then 30, then 27. I also have not seen anything about any "moto" version of the YFZ.
EX's don't really handle that well, they are just so slow that they seem that way, lol

Hey i was just racing at the itp quadcross at Gelen Helen,ca on fathers day and yamaha had one of them there racing. The suspension and handling looked awsome when they were racing. It came in around 4th or 5th but that is really good for a stock bike running agaisnt heavly modifed bikes.I think yamaha is going to make a race team here soon because they had a trailer and everything out there. The bike also should great power and easly pulled away from other bikes. It also took the landings really nice and didnt even look harsh when the rider over cleared a jump.

I just remember when the Raptor was first introduced, before anyone had one... everyone was saying how it was gonna out run AND outhandle the 400EX.....
no one knows, but I'm sure (or should I say, I hope) Yamaha did their homework on this bike.... as far as handling goes....
but back to the HP ratings.... guestimates at this point, and from a questionable source at that..... dirtwheels says around 40hp?
but the Raptor pulls away from it with a higher top speed? you can gear anything lower or higher.... my guess is it has around the same rear-wheel horsepower as the Raptor, if not less... but it's lighter weight gives it the accelerating edge....
and I think that with the same exact mods, the Raptor will be more powerful (and faster) bottom-to-top, than the YFZ... smaller motor's just don't respond as well as larger displacement motors, to modifications..... just look at the Predator, ever heard of it getting a 13 hp increase just from pipe/filter/jet combo? nope..... neither with the YFZ..... I'm guessing around a 5hp pick-up... which will leave it around the 40rwhp range, while the Raptor with the same mods will be in the mid 40's.... but the 50 less pounds of the YFZ will always keep it in the running.... I'd be willing to bet it will be a good bike to run with the Predators on the track, and with a lot less weight(comes in handy on the jumps)... but anyone who wants wide-open power will still be needing a Raptor... there's no replacement for displacement....

That 45 HP is definetly 45 BHP (measured at the crank) and not 45 RWHP (wheels).
More or less 35-37 RWHP.
The DS for example was advertised at 52 HP. That is when you measure it a the crank. At the wheels its more like 38-42 depending on the DYNO.
Thanks

I was at the East Coast Rider day at Englishtown, NJ last week and the talk there was about the first test ride of the YFZ by the publication. It appears to have the same motor suppression the Raptor has. On initial test rides, riders were bummed on the lack of power compared to the hype. Of course no one wants to publicly say that with the hype. But in typical Yamaha motor fashion, once a GYTR slip on and some jetting and airbox mods were performed, the bike they lived up to the hype, "The thing flies" was the quote a couple of the editors passed on to me.
