Raptor Steering stems
#1
I was riding last weekend and rolled my raptor. I was braking and turned a little too sharp. Low speed, 15mph max, probably less. In anycase, the quad ended up on its top. I bent the handlebars, a tie rod, and it seems the steering stem. It was more of a soft roll than a crash, so I dont understand why the thick tubed steerign stem bent as well. The left end of my new handlebars is a good inch lower than the right. Is the stem known to be weak, or did I crash just right to bend it? Also, any ideas on how to fix or what to replace it with and where I can get it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just a message for those of you that have bent your steering stem or are planning to in the near future. I just got mine retubed in 4130 chromemoly ("1.25x.120) from Wizard fabrications in Riverside California. He does a great job for $125.00. The man makes sand cars for a living and is a very capable fabricator. He does a lot of trick aluminum side panels, consoles, wing trunks, fuel tanks etc... He's a got a car on the cover of the new sand sports coming out this month.

Are you sure it is the steering stem? The first time I rolled mine over I bent the handlebars and the steering knuckle or yoke at the bottom of the stem. The T-shaped piece that the inner tierod ends bolt into. Check that before you invest in a new steering stem. I think that part runs $20-30. Good luck!!

I think its the steering stem because when i put my new handlebars on, they are lower on one side still. if it was just the bottom mounting bracket, it wouldnt affect the new bars, would it?
