Sounds like one of the "safety" switchs are acting up. Check you clutch and reverse switch. Also spay your on/off switch with WD-40 and work it back and forth a few times. Do you have a neutral light when the key is on?

I will try the jump starting directly to the starter tonight. No, no neutral light comes on

With no neutral light, you won't get it to start - so don't fry your electrical system by plugging it into a car! Figure out why there's no neutral light...

*I would jump it off from a lawn mower or another atv.

Mine did the same thing. I went through and cleaned out all the connecters with brake parts cleaner. They were all full of dirt and some had dead bugs. If that dosent help try starting it with a screwdriver at the alternator. If it starts like that its prolly the alternator, if ti dosent its one of the relays between the battery and the altenator (assuming it will jump off at the starter).

Spraying wd-40 on the "run/off" switch did the trick.
THANKS!

No thanks on the 2 stokes ATVs. I like electric start, reverse, and going mudding without it dieing on me. I'm buying a 2-stroke dirt bike for the tracks. I use the ATV only for off track.

on all my connections I pulled them apart, cleaned them and then put Dielectric grease in every one of my connections! This works great and the next time you go to pull a connection apart it will come apart with ease! be careful the first time around when pulling all of them apart because they will be full of mud and junk and they will be tuff to pull apart! The grease helps keeps the terminals from rusting and it also will keep the mud and water out!

Cool.
Always start with the small stuff. Big Bears are also good for this after playing in the mud.
