Default Raptor camshaft sprocket problem

I was doing some timing adjustments yesterday, and something went wrong. Those little guards that go on the camshaft sprocket bolts bent some how, and they both sheared off in the engine. Luckily the timing was still wrong, and it only ran for a second and then I pulled the valve cover back off, and found that it was broken. I pulled off the magneto cover and found one of them down there. but I CANNOT find the other piece. I have to have the engine back together to be in Aledo on friday. I had the local Yamaha dealer next day me some new ones, but they're not open on Saturday's, so they'll be here tuesday. Where could that piece have gone to? It's aluminum, so I can't use a magnet. I'm going to pull the flywheel tomorrow and see if maybe it's stuck behind it or something. anyone got any ideas?

Im not too sure on where that might have gone, but you should check the piston to make sure you didnt put a valve into it, and check the valves as well

There is a channel to the gear/crankcase below the flywheel. When I was doing my one-way one of the dowels for the case cover vibrated out of the case while I was using the impact on my flywheel.. needless to say it went right into the hole at the bottom and down into the motor oil.. I was able to reach in there and get it out but barely..

i hope its just jammed up behind the flywheel but it might have went in that hole too, maybe fish around in there with your finger but I bet you will have to pull the flywheel to get a good reach..

Or leave your oil in, take the left hand cover off and flip the quad to the left and maybe it will wash out or close enought to get at it.

the piece is aluminum so it won't stick to a magnet

If you are talking about what I am thinking of, the weight gaurds, then I bent one on accident doing something one time. Nothing was wrong I .....heck I can't remember. I caught it before I started the motor, and bent it back. Good luck!

The oil washing out thing sound logical. If that doesn't work pull the oil filter and try flushig it out with some fuel, diesil, or something like that.

I used a Magnet to fish mine out when it fell off during teardown. It was sitting around the flywheel.
