Default Easiest motor to swap into Warrior?

Reading on here about folks that run a different motor in their Warrior got me thinking...... what's the easiest large displacement motor to drop in the Warrior? I've got a 98 with a good motor that I could sell to finance the project if it would be an easy swap. I'd like something I could have the wife ride that could keep up with the Raptor in the sand. I dont want to severely impact its handling tho so heavy streetbike motors are probably out. I also need a 4 stroke and prefer to keep electric start but would live without it. Remember, I've got to sell the wife on the idea too. Any suggestions??

How much power are you looking for? Four stroke Tech has a 450cc kit for the warrior that should make ~35hp. That should make the wife way fast

Kind of hard to do-- it is a Warrior after all

Perhaps sell it and find a used 400EX? Not to say that there isn't anything wrong with a Warrior, but I really believe that moving to a 400EX would be a great improvement in all categories.

Hey, as a matter-of-fact, that's about the only real deficiency in Yamaha's sport quad line-up now and that's to bump up the Warrior to 400cc and update the chassis/ergos. It wouldn't compete with the YFZ450 because they are different markets... ahhh, and once again, I digress....

There is no easy motor swap for the Warrior, get ready to chop up the frame and re-build all motor mounts for about 6-months

Well I'm trying to avoid sinking a ton of cash into the current powerplant. I've heard of a XT500 motor being dropped into the Warrior, a local machine was for sale with that conversion but I didnt see how it was installed. I've liked the Warrior chassis when it was my main machine but I now realize there's better out there. I figure it would take at least $1000 to upgrade to a 400ex, I was hoping to get cash for the stock motor and buy a different powerplant for a total investment of less than a couple hundred bucks. If there's no easy swap I guess I'll wait for a hotcams camshaft and maybe a new set of valve springs and call it as good as it'll get.

You have it backward. The motor is the best part of the Warrior (lots of low end grunt). Keep the motor. Its that frame you need to swap out!

[I was going to say "put it in a Wolverine chassis", but I won't, cause that would be rude!]

The Warrior is a torquey motor, it loves to lug around. However in the sand it's a pig. That is primarily where it needs more stones.

I have a spare RD350 motor I been planning on puttin in mine. its almost the same size as the stocker but wider. Its lighter too. I cant do it without my dads help though, and he refuses to help me as long as I have another motor that runs. I just cant weld good enough to put it all together without him.
