Dry Sump and Wet Sump???

Default Dry Sump and Wet Sump???

What do dry sump and wet sump mean. There is also a semi dry sumpon the honda Rincon also what does that mean. Thanx for your help. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Default Dry Sump and Wet Sump???

dry sump means the engine oil is seperate from the engine , either in a tank mounted to the motor as in the honda atv's or even in the frame rail on some dirtbikes , wet sump mean the oil is actually in the engine , the crankshaft is actually running in oil , in the dry sump it is pumped in the back out of the engine.
