Looking for a YFZ in So. Calif.???????
#11
$6899 + California tax of 7.75% where I live or 8% to round it off. Comes to $7450 + $21 liscence fee + plus whatever they charge for documentation fees. $7700 is still on the high side. But better. Right now, the only way I'd consider it is for $6899 OTD. Even then I don't think I'd do it yet.

I agree with ya brother. That shop you mentioned in your earlier post is b.s. I know their trying to make a buck but man their probably doubling their money at that cost. I agree with $6899, I've been defending the price so far to z400 riders and ex drivers saying that under $7000 the yfz would be worth it because of the mods and motor work you'd have to do on the 400's. If it's going to be $8000 or more there's no way I could justify that price over getting a z or ex and hopping it up because you could walk out the store with one of these for a little over $5000 and with $3000 to spend on 450 kit $1500 and a larger carb then you've got around 47hp. That's for the kit in dirtwheels, I can get mine bored out for a lot less by some guys that live about 3 miles from my house. Of course you wouldn't have the yfz's suspension but you could get Elka shocks for $1100 or some cheaper aftermarket shocks. If you go the cheap route you've got about $7000 but with the Yoshimura 450kit and complete Elka suspension you're looking at least $8500 but it's still cheaper than a $9000 plus yfz. Of course if you are like most people and want an affordable quad you can ride right away you can get the 400z,ex whatever until you can afford to hop them up. The yfz for a $7000 is definitly worth it and it's conceivalbe it's around a 450z in power but when a shop ups the price like this they are hurting the yfz sales. I wish someone from Yamaha would go down there and jerk a knot in their ***.

I do have to say that HYR has been very good to me (in terms of price) over the years (and their service puts Chaparral to shame)!! But, I am a loyal customer, and have bought a dozen bikes there over the last 20 years.
